DSP's son opens fire during altercation

Two policemen deployed at the venue do not intervene

Cocking a snook at chief minister Akhilesh Yadav’s claims of improvement in the law and order situation in the state, two sons of senior UP police officers and their goons exchanged fire and assaulted each other in full public view in a posh and busy locality in Allahabad, while the cops deployed nearby turned a blind eye to the incident.

The footage that shows Pankaj Shukla, son of a DSP level police officer, and his friend mercilessly beaten up by Vivek — whose father was also a DSP — and his friends with sticks, belts and shoes following which the duo was found lying on the road in semi-conscious state.

At least two policemen could be seen in the footage watching the entire episode but didn’t demur.

According to reports, Vivek and Pankaj had an altercation at a city eatery on Tuesday night following which, the latter shot at the former with his licensed pistol.

Vivek escaped as the bullet went past his ear.

Soon, a few friends of Vivek arrived at the scene and they attacked Pankaj and his companion.

The two were overpowered and thrashed in full public view.

Some passersby requested the two policemen, who were present there, to intervene but they remained mute spectators saying that they did not want to meddle in a fight between the sons of senior officers.

Condition serious

Taking a serious view of the matter, the government on Thursday suspended the two policemen, who were on duty but didn’t take any action.
