Leader of the opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijay Kumar Malhotra on Wednesday said chief minister Sheila Dikshit should resign on moral grounds, following charges made by the CAG in its report highlighting rampant corruption in every department of the city Government.

He said such an important report putting the government on the dock was placed before the House on the last day and the last hour of the Assembly session so that no discussion could take place in the House.

“The CAG report is a slap on the face of this government, which has become dictatorial and corrupt. Dikshit should resign immediately and call for elections,” said Malhotra.

He said BJP will prepare a detailed chargesheet against the Delhi government by incorporating charges made by the Shunglu committee, Lokayukta, Central Vigilance Commission, CBI and the Comptroller and Auditor General’s report highlighting scandals.

The BJP will take the campaign to every nook and corner of Delhi, he said.
City BJP president Vijay Goel said the CAG report, which is the supreme audit agency of India, has been unable to find a single facet of life, which remained unaffected and uncovered by the incompetent and corrupt malpractices of the Delhi government.
“Be it life-saving healthcare, transport, water, power, sewage, policing, housing, girl child issues, wide scale corruption exists everywhere. It is high time this government resigns,” said Goel.

AAP on CAG report

Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party has also criticised the government quoting the CAG report.

Kejriwal on Wednesday said the report has validated AAP’s claim that large-scale corruption exists in Delhi Jal Board and the electricity department.

“The CAG report clearly states that Delhi Transco has given undue advantage to private distribution companies,” said the AAP leader.

“Even water is a scarce commodity in the capital with almost one fourth of Delhi depending on private tankers. And when residents pledge not to pay inflated bills and demand their rights, it is termed as spreading lawlessness,” said Kejriwal.
He said the CAG report should not be treated as just another report, but as the agony of the people of Delhi since there is hardly any department untouched by corruption and commission raj.
