B Jayashree addressing the press after submitting her resignation, in Mysore on Sunday.

Addressing press persons here on Sunday, after she had despatched her letter of resignation, Jayashree said she chose to leave Rangayana owing to ‘ill treatment and humiliation’ she underwent in the hands of artists at the repertoire.

Non-cooperation

“They have constantly insulted, refused to take directions from me and were completely non-cooperative whenever I suggested them to do any work,” she said. When asked would she return to Rangayana if the government does not accept her resignation, she replied in negative.

Her resignation has come amidst ongoing efforts by thinkers and theatre enthusiasts in Mysore, who were attempting to bridge the gap between the Director and the artists.
