Utsav, the three-day inter-collegiate techno-cultural fest of BMS College of Engineering, was a unique platform for the students to showcase their skills and talents.

The campus was buzzing with activity and students from different parts of the City participated in it.

‘Mad Ads’, quiz, debate, online photography contest, football match, Eastern and Western dance competitions, Eastern and Western music were some of the events held.

The most awaited part of the show was ‘Whiplash’, where two leading rock bands,‘Hungry’ and ‘Cryptos’, entertained the students.

The college was decked up for the fest and the theme this year was ‘All Around the World in Three Days’. The entire campus was divided into different continents and students evendecorated the campus with hand-made monuments like the Eiffel Tower.

The volunteers made sure that things were in place and the events progressed smoothly.

Rohith, one of the organisers, informs that the response has been great and many students turned up despite their internal examinations. “The turnout this year is better than it was during the 25th year celebrations held last year. Events like Western and Eastern dance had teams from cities like Chennai participating. The Western dance competition was won by a team from Madras Christian College and the Eastern dance
competition was won by SJBIT,” he says.

Students divided the work among themselves and the first-year students were given equal opportunities to help out.

“We were divided into groups so that we had a chance to be a part of the fest. In the beginning of the year, we had an audition where we could choose the committee we wanted to be a part of. These kind of things help us in improving our organising skills and learn to take up responsibility,” says Akshay, a first-year student.

The fest also had a section where budding photographers and artists were given
a platform to showcase their talent.

The photography and art exhibition was a huge hit among the visitors.

Many could be seen app-reciating the efforts of the students.

Namratha, a second-year student and one of the organisers, informs that it was the theme that attracted many to the fest. “The theme this year has attracted many people and our technical and fine-arts team has done a great job. The names of the events have been kept according to the theme and they have become popular,” she says.
