Hooda announces infrastructure projects

While addressing media persons here on Monday, he exuded confidence that he would prove majority on the floor of the house within a week. A one-day session of the state assembly has been convened on October 28 for this purpose, he added.

The Congress, which emerged as the largest party in the 90-member assembly by winning 40 seats, has the support of seven Independents and a BSP MLA.

Seeking to dispel notions about the stability of a government propped up by independents, Hooda said only the Congress could provide a stable government and the Independents and the BSP MLA had provied an “unconditional support”.

Conceding that the Opposition formed a strong bloc in the new assembly, Hooda said he hoped the Opposition would play a constructive role. “A strong Opposition is welcome. Last time, there was hardly any Opposition,” he said referring to the 2005 assembly poll results.
