Raja defends self, to submit note to JPC

Last Updated 19 April 2013, 20:27 IST

Scam-tainted former telecom minister A Raja and DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi on Friday junked the Joint Parliamentary Committee’s (JPC) findings on the 2G spectrum scam as “shockingly incredulous.”

The JPC, headed by P C Chacko, had observed in a draft report that Raja “misled” Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on procedures followed in 2G licence allocation. Reacting to the JPC report, Raja claimed to have communicated every decision taken on allocation of the licences on a first-come-first-serve basis to the prime minister.

Volleying questions from mediapersons at the Chennai airport, shortly after his arrival from New Delhi, Raja said: “I did everything in consultation with the prime minister. I will prove my innocence.” Undeterred by the report, which reportedly gave a clean chit to Singh and Finance Minister P Chidambaram, Raja was confident of proving his innocence.
