JD(S) candidate from Kanakapura constituency, P G R Sindhia, has filed a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer, against Congress candidate D K Shivakumar, alleging tampering of electronic voting machines (EVMs) in collusion with the local polling officers.

Speaking to reporters in the City on Monday, Sindhia said Shivakumar, since the day the process for Assembly polls started, had been indulging in several malpractices. He said that the Congress candidate had tried to buy votes through money power. Sunday’s incident during shifting of EVMs was a classic example of illegalities during elections, he said.

“After the elections, the EVMs were supposed to be shifted to Ghousia college in Ramanagar. Instead, they were shifted to a school belonging to Shivakumar,” he said. Alleging that Shivakumar tried to tamper with the EVMs when there was a power cut, he said the officials were forced to shift them to the designated place after a protest by JD(S) workers.
