Blast accused in custody

All the nine suspects arrested in connection with the Malleswaram bomb blast of April 17, were produced before the I Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court here on Tuesday.

The City police had sought extension of the custody of seven of them. They contended that the investigations on the role of two suspects – Peer Moiddeen arrested from Chennai and Saddam Hussein brought on a body warrant from Salem Jail – was complete and they did not need their custody further.

Magistrate Venkatesh R Hulagi remanded five of  the nine accused, Rehmatullah, 29, Asgar Ali, 29, Hakeem, 31 of Coimbatore, Tenkasi Suleman, 24, of Tenkasi who were brought with a body warrant from Salem prison and Sulaiman alias Man Bhai, 31, arrested by the CCB from Coimbatore Sunday night in police custody till May 18. Of the three arrested earlier, the judge extended the custody of Kitchen Bhuhari and Basheer till May 18.
