Thadaka
Telugu (U/A) ¬¬¬
Cast: Sunil, Naga Chaitanya, Tamannah, Andrea Jeremiah
Director: Kishore Kumar

This Tollywood remake of Tamil hit Vettai is an entertaining and engaging tale of two brothers. Directed by Kishore Kumar, Thadaka revolves around the two men with different dispositions — Sivarama Krishna a cop, who is timorous by nature, and Karthik, footloose, street-smart and all brawn and bravado.

Given his timid making, Krishna has to confront baddie Bagga, a notorious criminal and smuggler, a terror in city. However, braveheart brother Karthik helps Krishna take on Bagga and his bunch of smugglers, who then swear vengeance on the brothers. How Sivarama Krishna shakes his weak, wobbly disposition to turn into a tough cop forms the fulcrum of Thadaka. In between, the brothers take time romancing Nandu and her sister Pallavi, who provide necessary diversion from the heavy duty stunt.

Naga Chaitanya does a decent job. Tamannah oozes oomph sharing fine chemistry with Chaitanya. Sunil matches Chaitanya, while Andrea Jeremiah is just a pretty babe.

Ashutosh Rana lives the role of Bagga. Brahmanandam and Vennela Kishore take care of the comedy track. While the first half is breezy and fast, the second half sags a bit, before its climatic denouement. But this does not dilute Thadaka’s overall pull power. In sum, it is your proverbial average, high adrenaline action comedy with a liberal lacing of romance and songs, worth the wallet.
