Seminar on river diversion, economic devt tomorrow

Informing this at a press meet here on Thursday, Seminar Convener K Devaraj said the event would also mark a “Tuluvas’ pride walk” from Karavali Utsav Ground to T V Raman Pai Hall in which a large number of people including the elected representatives and top officials of the region would take part.

The seminar will be inaugurated by Home Minister Dr V S Acharya at 10.30 am. District-in-Charge Minister J Krishna Palemar will preside. Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade, Syndicate Bank former CMD N K Thingalaya, former Union minister Oscar Fernandes, Yenepoya University Chancellor Y Abdullah Kunhi, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests K Sundar Naik and Vishwa Tulu Sammelana Secretary B Yashovarma will take part.

The seminar will comprise a total of four sessions apart from the inaugural and the concluding part.

The first session (9 am) will be held with the theme “Education, health and media” where S Ganesh Rao, Dr Edward Nazareth, Manohar Prasad, Malar Jayaram Rai, Srinivas Rao and Dinesh Alva will be present. N Vinay Hegde will chair the session.

In the second session (11.30 am) on “Industries, tourism and transport” wil be chaired by B Ramanath Rai. C Nirmala Kamath, Sumith S Rao, Vasanth Kudva, Jayakrishna Shetty, J R Lobo and Rajavarma Ballal will speak

The third session (2 pm) on “Fisheries, diversion of Nethravathi, agriculture and rural development” will be presided y Ramachandra Baikampady. S M Shivaprakash, Narednra Rai Derla, M M Kamath, L Manjunath, H P C Shetty, Subbayya Shetty and S R Rangamurthy will take part.

The fourth session (3.30 pm) will be on “Commerce, export, banking and cooperation”. B R Bhat, Giridhar Prabhu, Walter D’Souza, M N Rajendra Kumar, Ananthakrishna, K N Vijay Prakash, J M Garg will take part. B Nagaraj Shetty will chair.

The concluding session (5 pm) will be on “Overall development of coastal Karnataka”.
Dr M Mohan Alva, Yogish Bhat, Prabhakar Sharma, Chandrakala Nandavara, U K Kumaranath, Sainath Malligemadu, Sudhir Raj and P S Yedapadithaya will participate in the concluding session, Devaraj informed.
