Chiranjeevi's actor son in road rage controversy

Last Updated 13 May 2013, 04:48 IST

Union minister Chiranjeevi’s actor son Ram Charan Teja has found himself mired in a controversy after two software engineers alleged that he and his security personnel beat them up near GVK mall here.

Complainants Phanish and Kalyan told police that they had stopped their vehicle at a traffic signal near the mall, with Teja’s car right behind. The actor apparently wanted passage for his vehicle and kept on blowing the horn and even abused them, but the techies refused to budge. As traffic flow resumed, Teja overtook the techies and blocked their way. The actor and his staff allegedly bashed them up and threatened them of dire consequences.

The techies subsequently lodged a complaint at Banjara Hills police station. They also narrated the entire incident to the media. Later, in a dramatic U-turn, the duo withdrew their complaint. Meanwhile, the actor claimed that the techies had misbehaved with him and apologised for their conduct. He also called footage showing him and his security guards roughing up the techies “morphed.” However, Phanish has denied apologising to Teja.

Chiranjeevi told mediapersons in Kakinada that the law treats everybody equally. He said since Teja has already clarified the incident, there was no need for him to elaborate further.
