<p>A man posing as a customer, made away with gold chains worth Rs eight lakh from a jewellery store on the outskirts of the City, after diverting the attention of the shop owner on Tuesday afternoon. <br /><br /></p>.<p>According to the police, Malla Ram, owner of Santosh Jewellers at Anjana Nagara, Tavarekere, was at the counter along with two of his employees, when a man in his 30s came to the shop and asked to be shown some gold chains.<br /><br />Speaking to Deccan Herald, Malla Ram said: “He spent more than 15 minutes in the shop and asked us to show various designs. One of the boys gave him a bunch of gold chains on a ring. The ‘customer’ asked for another bunch. As we turned to take another set of chains, he ran away with the bunch. We chased him but he escaped,” he said. <br /><br />The Tavarekere police have registered a case and are investigating. They are analysing the CCTV footage from the shop.</p>
