Time to move on, says Mahela

Delhi Daredevils skipper Mahela Jayawardene said they will have to “move on” after enduring a tough Indian Premier League season during which they finished at the bottom of the table.

The Daredevils finished with the wooden spoon after losing their final game to Pune Warriors by 38 runs here on Sunday.

“Tough day at the office for us, sums up the season. They played better cricket on this wicket. Rough season for us but we need to move on,” Jayawardene said at the presentation ceremony.

Delhi lost 13 matches while winning just three in what turned out to be a disastrous season.

Pune captain Aaron Finch was happy to have ended the tournament on a winning note.
“We are very happy with the way it ended. Disappointed we haven’t been able to do it more often. Crowd has been good throughout the season,” Finch said. Luke Wright, who smashed a quick-fire 44 to prop up Pune’s innings, was declared the Man of the Match.

“It’s very nice to finish on a high. Different track from what I am used to at home but this one was a better one,” Wright said. This was Pune’s fourth victory of the season, which saw them finish eighth.
