An unidentified man fell to his death from the third floor of a commercial complex at the junction of Kamaraj Road and Ibrahim Saab Street on Sunday evening. The deceased is between the age of 30 and 35 years.

The first three floors of Varasiddhi Complex house a saree shop; the additional three storeys above are still unfinished. According to police, three girls employed at the saree shop went to the bathroom on the unfinished fourth floor in the evening. When they entered the bathroom, they saw a man lying unconscious on the floor. When their attempts to wake him failed, they summoned a carpenter working on the second floor and a security guard from the ground floor.

The two men poured water over the man, waking him up. The man was in an inebriated condition, police said. The group helped him downstairs. But as he was walking down the third-floor staircase, which lacks railings and a parapet wall, he stepped off the edge and fell on to the street.

Bystanders rushed him to Bowring Hospital where he was declared brought dead. Commercial Street Police have registered a case.
