The BJP on Tuesday demanded a thorough probe into the issue of extending undue benefits to a private firm in construction of luxury apartments near Statue Circle, in which the chief minister’s son has business interests.
Bharatiya Janata Party secretary Kirit Somaiya alleged that rules were bent by authorities for providing necessary permissions to the firm for the project, and demanded that documents related to it be made public.
Favour
“The company was favoured by the government and rules were flouted. Permission to construct a residential project on land meant for institutional use is one of the major irregularities,” he alleged.
There are strict rules regarding the height of buildings in the locality and the area of construction, but both rules were flouted to favour Om Metal Group to construct 152 luxury apartments on Prithiviraj Road, said Somaiya.
Residential project
“The land use, where the project is being constructed, is shown as institutional in Master Plan 2025, but the approval for a residential project was given. The Jaipur Development Authority, in order to favour the firm, claimed that land use was erroneously marked as ‘institutional use’ in the Master Plan,” said the BJP leader.
He said the party will go to the Governor with a complaint seeking a thorough probe into the alleged land scam.
He said the Ashok Gehlot government with this favour has gained monetary benefit of Rs 800 crore.
