Steps to solve traffic chaos in Madikeri soon: DC

After listening to the suggestions and objections from traders, oranisation leaders, elected representatives and bus owners, DC said that action will be taken to solve the traffic chaos in the city, based on the decisions taken in the meet. “A circular in this direction will be issued on Monday. This will be a final meeting with regard to traffic issue,” he said and called upon the general public to co-operate for the development of the city.

The DC said that buses will be allowed to enter the city through Sampigekatte route as per the resoution taken by the City Municipal Council. Buses will exit the city through Raja Seat Road, he added.
Meanwhile, Bus Owners’ Association President Hosur Ramesh Joyappa said that it is very difficult for the buses to ply on narrow roads of Sampigekatte.

He said that possibilities of accident were more on the route. Traffic police should conduct survey on the spot before implementing the decision, he urged.

Meanwhile, traders, City Municipal Council members, oganisation representatives and others opposed Bus Owners’ suggestion. District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President T P Ramesh, CMC members T M Ayyappa, Abdul Razak, K T Baby Mathew, former members Monthi Ganesh, K M B Ganesh and Dr Sooryakumar backed the decision of diverting buses on Sampigekatte road.

Meanwhile, the DC asserted the decision taken in the meet will be final and a circular in this direction will be issued on Monday.

DC Ashwathanarayana Gowda, SP Manjunatha Annigeri, CMC President P D Ponnappa, Commissioner K Srikantha Rao and others inspected alternative road and directed the traffic police to take necessary steps for the smooth movement of vehicles.
