Cop suspended, probe ordered against him

Yet another girl fell to a sexual predator in the Uttar Pradesh police force. A policeman allegedly raped a teen inside a police post in Meerut district, about 450 kilometers from here, in an inebriated condition.

According to reports, Subhash Yadav called the unsuspecting teen, a rag picker, into the bus stand police outpost on Wednesday night and allegedly raped her. The policeman was drunk, reports said.

A home guard, who was in the vicinity, reached there when he heard the cries of the teen but the cop assaulted him as well. Sources said that the victim was shooed away from the police post a little later.

The home guard, however, informed senior officials about the incident following which the culprit was medically examined. The test confirmed that he was in an inebriated state.

Yadav was suspended on Thursday and a probe was ordered. “Efforts are on to trace the teen,” the officials said. This is the second incident of rape inside a police outpost in the past one week.

Some days back, a woman had accused four policemen of raping her inside a police outpost before her husband in Sanat Kabir Nagar district.

The victim had alleged that the outpost in-charge Shivaji Rao and three constables raped her while her husband, who was locked up at the outpost, looked on. The victim had gone to the post to request the policemen to release him.

A few months back, a senior sub-inspector had been accused of raping a woman complainant at his official residence in the police station premises. He was later suspended and arrested.
