Thimmaiah brace spurs Karnataka

Nikkin Thimmaiah scored a brace as Karnataka beat Sports Authority of India 5-2 to register their second consecutive win of Pool C in the third Hockey India Senior Men’s National Championship here on Tuesday.

In Pool A, Deepak Thakur hammered in five goals as Punjab crushed Association of Indian Universities 11-1 while Mohit scored a hat-trick in Hockey Delhi’s lop-sided 11-1 win over Gujrat.

Manipur too scored an easy win in Pool G, K Roshan and Ksh Victo netting a brace as they flattened Kerala 10-3.

Pool E: Hockey Himachal Pradesh: 1 (Gourav Kumar 43rd) drew with Bengal: 1(MD Riyazuddin 58th).
