Two bikers killed

Two bikers were killed when a cement truck knocked them down on the service road opposite Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bommasandra Industrial Area, Hosur Road, on Wednesday night.

The men on bike were coming from Chandapura towards Bommasandra and the cement truck from the oppoiste direction on the service road. The truck collided head-on with the bike. According to eyewitnesses, as the vehicles collided, the bikers fell down. While the truck ran over one of them, the other, who suffered severe head injury, also died on the spot.

The truck driver fled the scene after the truck dragged the bike a few metres away. The bike was completely burnt as the fuel tank leaked. The deceased were identified as Madhu, 25, hailing from Channapatna and Dhanraj, 28, hailing from Halagur.

Madhu and Dhanraj were working at a private firm in Electronic City. The bodies have been shifted to Anekal Government Hospital. Hebbagodi police inspector said the families have been contacted and the families were on their way to the hospital.

The police immediately alerted the Attibele toll gate, where a few minutes later the cement truck was caught. A senior official said that as the right portion of the truck was severely damaged, the authorities at the toll gate identified the truck and detained the driver.
