Nikit, Surya in final

Top seed Nikit M Reddy set up a title clash with Surya Elangovan in the boys’singles final of the SAT-Indian Oil AITA Talent Series (under-14) junior tennis tournament at the SAT courts here on Thursday.

Nikit wasted no time as he outclassed Anirudh Murthy 6-1, 6-2 in the semifinals while the seventh seeded Surya carved out a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 victory over Achint Bhagat.
Meanwhile, in the girls’ section, seventh seed Paarvi Patel stormed into the singles final upsetting top seed Pratiksha Sen 7-5, 6-4. Paarvi will clash with third seed Sonashe Bhatnagar, who registered a 6-2, 7-5 win over Prarthana Prabhakar in the second semifinal, in the title decider on Friday.

Results: Boys’ singles (semifinals): Surya Elangovan bt Achint Bhagat 7-5, 6-4; Nikit M Reddy bt Anirudh Murthy 6-1, 6-2.

Doubles (final): Aditya Rao/ Satya Maran bt  Surya Elangovan/ Nikit M Reddy 7-5, 7-5.
Girls’ singles (semifinals): Paarvi Patel bt Pratiksha Sen 7-5, 6-4; Sonashe Bhatnagar bt Prarthana Prabhakar 6-2, 7-5.

Doubles (final): Sonashe Bhatnagar/ Prarthana Prabhakar bt Pratiksha Sen/ Paarvi Patel 4-6, 7-6(7-2), 10-6 (super tie-break).
