A newlywed homemaker,  Sayamani, 22, was found dead at her residence in Bannerghata on Thursday. She was married to Shivaraj, 32, an electrician.

After courtship for a brief period, they both tied the knot against Sayamani’s parents’ wishes. Sayamani hailed from Hassan while Shivaraj is a resident of Bannerghatta. However, the couple soon developed differences and quarreled frequently. Even on Thursday, they exchanged heated words. An upset Shivaraj, went out of the house, said the police.

He returned home after sometime and knocked on the door, but there was no response. He broke open the door only to find his wife hanging from a ceiling fan. He rushed her to a nearby hospital with the help of neighbours, but doctors declared that she was brought dead. She has left behind a death note stating that no one was responsible for her death.

In another incident, Manjula, 35, who had consumed poison on Thursday, died on Friday in Nandini Layout police station limits. Married to Ramachandra, an agricultural labourer, Manjula had gone into depression over the last few weeks. She was shifted to a nearby hospital after she consumed poison. However, she failed to respond to doctors’ treatment and died on Friday, said the police.

Hoax bomb call

Tension prevailed for a while at the SJR Primary School campus in Kengeri on Friday  when the school received a bomb alert from a woman. The school authorities went into a tizzy when they received another call from the same woman, stating that a few schoolchildren have been abducted.

The jurisdictional police rushed to the school along with the bomb detection and disposal squad and conducted an anti-sabotage check.

“We sent away all the children and conducted a thorough check. But did not find any explosives or bombs. It turned out to be a hoax call. We are verifying the call details and will arrest the woman soon,” said the police inspector.
