Police arrest rowdy, 7 aides

Rowdy sheeter Tanveer Ahmed, 49, and his seven associates — Ishaq, 30, Fayaz Ahmed, 25, Siraj Ahmed, 26,  Nadeem Sharif, 24, Imtiyaz, 26, Irshad, 26 and Passy alias Double, 25, were arrested by Pulakeshinagar police, after they surrendered to them.

Tanveer, along with his associates, went to his relative Zuber alias Pehlwan’s house in Shivajinagar on Friday night. Tanveer was furious when a few members of Zuber’s gang provoked him, leading to a verbal altercation with Zuber, which took a violent turn.

Though the relatives intervened and pacified Tanveer, his associates, were bent on settling scores with Zuber’s men and camped outside the latter’s residence. They departed with Tanveer after a while, only to regroup at Tanveer’s house.

They then attacked Zuber outside his house with lethal weapons. Zuber’s associates rushed to his rescue.

Tanveer’s associates were also injured in the incident, so were the aides of Zuber. When the police rushed to the spot, Tanveer and his men fled. Hours later, they surrendered before the police who booked them under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC, based on Zuber’s complaint.
