Minor, senior citizen fall prey to robbers

Class 10 student killed in Ranhola while septuagenarian strangled in Gurgaon

A 16-year-old boy was found strangled inside his house at Ranhola area in west Delhi on Saturday night. The police suspect he was strangled while resisting a robbery attempt.

The incident took place at around 11 pm on Saturday when the deceased, identified as Chandra Shekhar alias Guddu, a class X student, was present alone at his house at Tilak Garden area in Ranhola.

Home alone

Chandra Shekhar, a native of Chhapra district in Bihar, was alone at his house as his parents had gone to their native place on summer vacation.

 “On Saturday night, when Chandra Shekhar's relatives, who live nearby, went to call him for dinner, they found the ground floor of the house was locked from outside. At this, they went upstairs and found him tied with the pillar inside a room and a gas cylinder pipe around his neck,” said a senior police officer.

The relatives, officer said, untied him and immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital in an unconscious state where, he was pronounced brought dead.

Meanwhile, they called police control room to inform it about the incident. A police team rushed the spot and the hospital.

Robbery suspected

Prima facie, it seems that they suspect the victim was strangled while resisting a robbery attempt as the room was ransacked.

The relatives are trying to ascertain the items and cash robbed from the room. The police have investigating the incident after registered it as a case of robbery and murder.

They found that Chandra Shekhar’s tenant, Sonu, 22, was missing from the house from the time the incident took place. Sonu was living at his house for last six months and is a resident of Sonepat in Haryana.

“A team has been formed and they have been sent to trace Sonu. We have verified details about Sonu from others tenants, who live in the house, and raids are on to nab him from his hideouts in Sonepat,” said the officer.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s parents are on their way back after being informed of the incident.
