Sampath, Hardik spur Herons

Suraj Sampath’s hundred and a five-wicket haul from Hardik Munoth helped Herons Cricket Club come away with innings honours in their drawn match against Jawahar Sports Club (2) in the KSCA Group I, Division I tournament for the Sir Mirza Ismail Shield here.

Batting first, Jawahars were bowled out for 292 in 83.5 overs. Ranjan Sanjay Kumar cracked a fine 110 and Mohammed Aslam (62) and Darshan SS (66) chipped in with half-centuries.  Munoth scalped 5/80 and Nithin claimed 3/30 for Herons.
In reply, Herons posted 309/6 in 90 overs to take a first innings lead of 17 runs.
Suraj led the way with 129 while S Vinodh (47), Chiranjeev GS (36) and Arjun Hoysala (31 n.o.) contributed with handy knocks as Herons finished the match with three points.
