<p>Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala on Monday emphatically asserted that he was never after important positions.<br /><br /></p>.<p>“I’ve never chased important positions,” Chennithala said, trying to put things in perspective on the ongoing debate over his induction into the state cabinet. <br /><br />He said all the important positions he had held during his 40-year public life were an outcome of his efficiency and dedication as a party worker and not his clout or clamour. <br />No comments<br /><br />He, however, refused to go further into the issue, citing strictures from the Congress high command on commenting on the matter in public. “There were talks at unofficial levels to make me a minister but I’m not in a position to discuss it further… but I do have my opinions on the issue that would be aired at the appropriate time,” Chennithala said. <br /><br />He also had a word for the Congress cadres to whom he extended an “apology” for the difficulties caused by the prolonged debate over cabinet reshuffle. <br /><br />The KPCC chief said no one could displace him from the hearts of the party workers. <br />He didn’t reserve comments on the government’s functioning either and said there has been a gap between the government’s intent and the people’s acceptance of some of the projects.<br /><br /> “The government’s vision and details of such projects need to be brought out to the public in a clearer manner,” he said.</p>
