I was falsely indicted, says MLA

Senior Congress leader and Srinivasapura MLA Ramesh Kumar on Monday claimed that the Task Force for Recovery and Protection of Government Land headed by retired bureaucrat V Balasubramanian had falsely indicted him stating that he had encroached upon forest land.

Speaking on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address in the Assembly on Monday, he said the Task Force finalised its report without giving a notice to him. “I was indicted without any basis. I wanted to meet Balasubramanian and tell him my side of the story. But, he refused to meet me. We (politicians) are also human beings. It was character assassination and, my family and I were deeply hurt,” he stated.

He said he had purchased about 61 acres of land in Kolar from 10 different people. It was later said that the land belonged to the Forest department in 1937. “Then, I voluntarily asked the local DFO to conduct a joint survey of the land. Nothing happened for three years. Recently, it became a big news... Hang me, if there is any truth in the Task Force report. I myself will come to the gallows,” he stated.
