2 held for hacking goon to death

Last Updated 11 June 2013, 19:00 IST

Two men, in their 20s, have been arrested by the police for the recent murder of a goon.

Azmathullah, 24, a resident of Talaghattapura, and Subhan, 20, a resident of Vijayanagar, were arrested on the charge of hacking Raghu alias Mental Raghu, an alleged goon, to death over an old rivalry on the night of June 5, police said. The suspects’ alleged accomplices in the crime, including the main conspirator, Wali alias Ravi, were absconding, police added.

According to police, Wali hatched the plot to kill Raghu as the latter kept harassing him. The two had come to know each other at the Central Prisons, Parappana Agrahara. Raghu was pestering him for money and he pressured him to pay more after Wali was released.

Then, in order to ‘get rid of Raghu once and for all’, Wali conspired with his accomplices — Azmathullah, Subhan, Vishwa, Vinod and Girish. They chased Raghu and hacked him with lethal weapons in front of a mosque at Hosahalli in Vijayanagar.  A grievously injured Raghu was rushed to a hospital by the policemen on night patrol, and he died later. His identity could be established only after two days, police added. A manhunt has been launched for the other suspects.
