Goalkeeping error costs Bagan dear as Mumbai post 2-1 win

Last Updated 02 November 2009, 18:08 IST

Mumbai FC scored in the first minute through Abhishek Yadav, and then again found the net in the 41st minute through Bashiree Mohammed Abbas. Bagan reduced the margin in the 60th minute through Snehashish Chakraborty.

The day started on a sad note for Bagan as their main custodian Sangram Mukherjee was ruled out for the match after he met with an unfortunate accident in the morning. Sangram slipped in the bathroom and fractured his right foot that forced coach Karim Bencherifa to field in Shilton, who failed to grab a Yadav header in the first minute.

Sporting hold Chirag

Sporting Clube de Goa came from behind to hold Kolkata outfit Chirag United to a 1-1 draw in a sixth round I-league encounter at Nehru Stadium
The visitors, who had more of the exchanges and scoring opportunities, took the lead in the 79th minute through Edmilson Marques’ spot kick, while Sporting fought back and equalised through Nathaniel Amos in the 82nd minute.

Meanwhile, the spark that Shillong Lajong FC showed in their last match was missing as they played a goalless draw against visiting Salgaocar Sports Club in Shillong.
East Bengal clinched three points after a 1-0 win against Viva Kerala in Kozhikode. Syed Rahim Nabi scored the sole goal in the eleventh minute for the visitors.
