From the day she debuted in Bollywood, Richa Chadda has donned the hat of being an actress who likes to not just experiment but also stamp her character with a credible performance. Since her debut movie, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! to the critically acclaimed Gangs Of Wasseypur, the young actress has proved herself unconventional!

To add to this list is Richa’s latest movie, Fukrey where she enacts the role of ‘Bholi Punjaban’, a hard-cussing lady don who divides her interest between pimping and drug-peddling. Though the film has failed to do business, critics have yet again patted Richa’s back, calling her the ‘scene stealer’.

Riding high, the lass shares the joy of playing her character in the film. “It was a fun character to play. ‘Bholi Punjaban’ is little over the top, evil and vicious. It is always fun to play your opposite on celluloid,” she says making one wonder what is she like in real life.

“I am not calm and quiet but definitely not like ‘Bholi Punjaban’ in real life,” she grins adding, “I love dance, music and photography. I like to make people around me laugh!”

She accepted this role because of the “strong script” and the chance to play a role that “very rarely women get.”

In the film, she drives black humour with her body language but says, “I love cool and classy films.”

Her choices have been envious but is she worried about being typecast? “You get typecast when you allow yourself to get typecast,” she says matter-of-fact elaborating, “Akshay Kumar does comedy, action and romance. If he doesn’t get typecast then who am I? If I keep doing same things in different films then I will get typecast. Its the nature of the job. But right now I am enjoying playing fun characters because I am young and can experiment.”

To the extent that she remains unperturbed even when cast in multi-starrers. “Why not? But I have also played lead characters which will be released later this year,” she shares referring to Tamanchey, where she will portray a glamorous role of an outlawed gangster girl.

What roles would she like to portray on-screen? “What buffet do you like to eat? You don’t eat the same food every day, do you?” she asks in reply.
