'I was trying to be cautious'

Some reservations

Actor Irrfan , who will be seen in Nikhil Advani’s ‘D Day’, admits that he was initially anxious about taking up the project.

“I was impressed with the kind of script he had written, but I was trying to understand whether he would make the same thing or change it during the making. Sometimes, for the sake of storytelling, people sacrifice the detailing of the characters in the story. I was a little concerned about it. I was not sure if he would make what he had written on paper,” he admits.

Nikhil wanted international standard action for his high octane thriller ‘D Day’. One of the top American action directors, Tom Struthers — who co-coordinated the action scenes in films like ‘Blood Diamond’, ‘Inception’ and ‘The Dark Knight’ — was roped in for it.

“He had promised that he would bring Hollywood stunt or action directors (for the movie). I thought people only talk about (such things) and don’t do them. I was trying to be a little cautious about it. I wanted to make sure that whatever he said, he would deliver,” Irrfan adds.

Along with Arjun Rampal, he will be soon pulling off some crazy action stunts in the movie.
“When Nikhil brought in action director Thomas Struthers and stunt co-coordinator John Street of ‘The Dark Knight’ fame, I became sure about the movie. I realised that he was not fooling around,” Irrfan remembers.

The actor had a great experience doing the stunts in the film. “It was very systematic. We did training before we started shooting. We were well trained,” he says. ‘D Day’ is about a ragged bunch of RAW agents who are given the task of bringing back India's most-wanted man. It stars Rishi Kapoor, Irrfan, Arjun Rampal, Shruti Hassan and Huma Qureshi among others. The movie is slated to release on July 19.
