Two passengers were killed and six others were injured when a private bus toppled near Tubugere Cross, Doddaballapur, on Tuesday morning.

Srinivas, 21, and Roja Mary, 20, both residents of Gauribidanur, are the victims.

Radhamma, Ashwini, Saroja, Gowramma, Parvathi and Suresh sustained minor injuries.
They were discharged after being treated at a hospital in Doddaballapur. The private bus (CKL 9945) was plying between Gauribidanur and Doddaballapur.

On Tuesday early morning, the bus left Manchenahalli in Gauribidanur. As it reached Tubugere Cross near Doddathimmanahalli village, the driver lost control over the vehicle.

The bus veered off the road and turned turtle. Police sources said that there were 15 passengers in the bus. Srinivas and Roja, who were seated just behind the driver, died on the spot due to severe head injury. The driver of the bus fled the spot.

Doddaballapur police have registered a case against the driver for death due to negligence under section 304A of IPC.

Police said that the private bus was more than 20 years old and it did not have the requisite fitness certificate and thus there was a major violation of safety norms.

Cook murdered

Pappu Kumar, 21, a native of Bihar, working as cook at a paying guest (PG) accommodation owned by Bhaskar Reddy, was bludgeoned to death with a club.

Police suspect petty quarrel between two employees led to the murder in BTM Layout. Reddy discovered the body.

According to Madivala police, Pappu Kumar and another employee Mahesh, also a native of Bihar, and a security guard at the building, were sleeping in a room on the ground floor.

According to the statement of the PG residents, the two, in an inebriated state, used to quarrel often over trivial issues. Mahesh is suspected to have fled to Bihar and the City police are planning to send a team to nab him.

Satish alias Goripalya Satish, 35, younger brother of slain rowdy Bhakta, was found hacked to death over suspected gang rivalry in Chandra Layout.

The incident came to light when residents found a half- burnt body at a vacant site near Nayandahalli Circle. Police say Satish was involved in extortion. Police have picked up three men - Yogendra, Nagendra and Srinivas - in connection with the murder.

According to the police, after a drinking binge at a bar in Vijayanagar, Satish was taken a desolate place near Nayandahalli in an autorickshaw, where he was strangulated with a rope and stabbed to death. They then poured petrol over the body and set it afire. Chandra Layout Police have registered a case.

Driver held

Taramurthy alias Raghu, 35, a resident of Koodlu, has been arrested in connection with the hit-and-run case on Sunday near Bommanahalli wherein hotelier Hemadri Reddy, 44, who was crossing the road, was mowed down.

A special team formed to trace the car, found the vehicle (KA 51 B 1769) at Lathangi Service Centre on Bannerghatta Road. A native of Arasikere, Taramurthy had bought the car three years ago and was running a private cab agency in City.
