JOIN USFormer Delhi mayor Jayshree Panwar’s nephew Rajeev has been arrested for sexually assaulting an US and a Russian national in south Delhi’s Shahpur Jat on Monday. He was produced before a Delhi court on Tuesday.
A case of rape and house trespass has been registered at the Hauz Khas police station on the basis of a complaint by the US national’s husband. The victims live in a rented house owned by Rajeev, who also runs a travel business. They have been living on the premises for the past six to seven months.
According to police, the US national and her husband, along with the Russian national, had returned home after attending a party late on Sunday. “They had kept the main door of the house unlocked as there was a power cut when they returned,” a police officer said.
The US national and her husband were asleep in one room while her roommate slept in another room. “Suddenly, around 4:30 am, Rajeev walked into the house and sexually assaulted the US national,” the officer added.
She claimed that she did not realise it for a while and suddenly woke up to find Rajeev next to her. She immediately raised an alarm following which her husband woke up and chased Rajeev. It is claimed that Rajeev also sexually assaulted the Russian national, who was asleep in the next room.
