He has been able to stick to the silver screen for decades, even as many of his contemporaries are making second comebacks. Bollywood star Anil Kapoor has always managed to be a trend-setter – whether through his style quotient or a Hollywood debut.

Metrolife caught up with the superstar, who was in the City recently. “Doors are opening and it won’t be long before Bollywood and Hollywood come together. It will be a normal thing. I am quite optimistic about it,” he says, reacting to Indian stars who are being seen in Hollywood movies.

Undoubtedly one of the fittest actors of his generation, Anil says that his mantra is to be positive. “If one doesn’t have a positive attitude, then there is no use exercising. The state of mind is really important because it affects the body,” he reflects.

His daughter Sonam Kapoor had recently said that she is interested in direction. “Sonam started off as an assistant director. I’ll be proud of her if she can do it. Some fantastic films have been directed by women,” he says.

Talking about the latest offering from his daughter, Raanjahanaa, he adds, “I’ve heard the music. It’s absolutely wonderful. And the film itself is very raw and earthy.” He adds, “Sonam has worked with the best directors. She is careful and choosy about her roles and directors.”

Anil has always made style statements in terms of dressing. “It’s important to feel comfortable. If you aren’t, then it shows on your face. The colour, fabric and fitting are all secondary. It’s how you carry what you wear. When it comes to style, you either have it or you don’t,” he signs off.
