The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has asked citizens to beware of middlemen posing as valvemen and meter readers who collect money assuring them of water supply.

People should demand ID cards from these middle men, failing which they should hand them over to the police, the BWSSB said, clarifying that no cash transaction was required for availing of water or sanitary connection. Any payment should be made only through BangaloreOne centres, the BWSSB kiosks or online.

The BWSSB also cautioned that availing of a water or sanitary connection without an official RR number sanctioned by it is an offence under the BWSSB Act, 1964.

Those interested in getting a water or sanitary connection can contact the jurisdictional assistance executive engineer or assistant engineer. They can also contact the BWSSB call centre at 22238888.
