Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khader has said that committees have been constituted in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts to ensure that all the problems faced by endosulfan victims are addressed. The committee will also keep a tab on the compensation which will be given to the beneficiaries.

Speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of a programme here, he said that the committees will be headed by the respective district in-charge ministers and the deputy commissioner will be the member Secretary. The MLAs, officers and two NGO representatives will also be part of the committee.

“The responsibility of the government does not end with distributing compensation. A package is complete, only when the overall development of the patient is looked after,” he said.

Khader revealed that he had visited Neettanige-Mudnoor near Karnataka-Kerala border, where a NGO had claimed that the expired endosulfan has been buried in a well. The Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner and Puttur tahsildar has also collected the details on the same.
