Last batch of Uttarakhand tourists to reach City today

The last batch of 75 Karnataka tourists stranded in Uttarakhand will reach Bangalore on Tuesday evening. The tourists along with officials of Karnataka State Disaster Management Centre (KSDMC) will reach Bengaluru International Airport in two special flights of Jet Airways.

Information and Infrastructure Minister Santosh Lad and Deputy Inspector General of Police (Internal Security) Hemanth Nimbalkar will accompany the rescued tourists.

Speaking to Deccan Herald from Dehradun, Santhosh Lad said, “The rescued tourists have already undergone medical examination and everyone is in good health. We will leave for Bangalore on Tuesday morning,” he said. The first flight will reach BIA at 4.45 pm and the second at 8.45 pm.

However, rescue officials are still clueless on the fate of 15 people, who have been reportedly missing. “The Army officials have asked us to contact the family members of the missing people and get their photographs,” Lad said. A team will stay back in Uttarakhand for coordinating the search operations.

Meanwhile the 25 people who reached the City late on Monday night were provided temporary accommodation at Shikshakara Sadana. They left for their respective placeson Monday morning, Lakshmipati, the supervisor of Shikshakara Sadana.
