Trinamool Congress (TMC) president and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has hinted at an alliance with the YSR Congress Party led by Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy for elections to the Lok Sabha.

Mamata thinks the general election may be held in November this year . A YSR Congress Party press release here said Mamata Banerjee had contacted Vijayamma, YSR Congress Party working president and wife of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, and said both regional parties could play a major role in national politics as both the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) and National Democratic Alliance were not likely to form a government at Delhi on their own.

“The future belongs to regional forces like the YSR Congress Party and the TMC,” Mamata told Vijayamma.

The TMC leader, a champion of a “federal front,” shared the same views about the UPA, especially the misuse of the CBI as a tool of political vendetta of the Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Mamata also inquired about the status of cases on Jagan and also described her association with YS Rajasekhara Reddy as a politically fruitful experience.

Mamata asked Vijayamma to discuss her suggestion with Jaganmohan Reddy.
