Minister inaugurates CCTV for traffic police

Home Minister K J George formally inaugurated the Control room of CCTV cameras at SP’s office in Mandya on Wednesday. In order to control the rising traffic snarls, the traffic police had installed CCTV cameras at important junctions of the city a couple of months ago.

He said that all the complaints should be registered irrespective of who lodges the complaint. He also appealed to the police department to cooperate with the public to maintain peace and harmony and the police stations turn people-friendly.

The department is striving to make the department corruption-free. The government has introduced various programmes including construction of 5,000 houses every year, insurance schme and others for the welfare of the policemen.

About 8,000 police staff will be recruited shortly. A canteen has been opened in Bangalore already, where essential household articles will be available free of Value Added Tax, he said.

Mandya city is developing rapidly with the increase in vehicular traffic. CCTV cameras have been installed in various places of the city for smooth control of traffic. CCTV camera facility will be adopted in other cities of the State soon, he said.
