A local court on Tuesday remanded an Army driver in judicial custody, in connection with the recent murder of a city-based relator over a financial dispute. The police claim that they have recovered the charred remains of the victim's body that the suspect had set on fire after killing him.

The HSR Layout police had arrested Rajesh, 30, a driver with the Army unit in the City, for allegedly killing Kodandarama Reddy, 42, a resident of Haraluru near Kudlu Gate. According to police, Rajesh befriended Kodandarama and had borrowed lakhs of rupees from him. However, in spite of constant reminders from Kodandarama, Rajesh did not repay the money.

On June 24, Kodandarama visited Rajesh’s quarters at Viveknagar and asked him to repay the entire amount. Rajesh repaid a part of the money. However, Kodandarama refused to leave the place till he received the full amount. The two entered into a heated argument.

Rajesh then knocked down Kodandarama with a chair and killed him instantly, police said.
Rajesh then borrowed a friend's car, in which he transported the body to an isolated spot near the Hosur highway. He burnt the body there, the police said.

On June 25, the HSR police received a missing complaint from Kodandarama’s uncle Srinivas.

The victim's phone call records revealed that he was constantly contacted by Rajesh. The police detained Rajesh and interrogated him, during which he reportedly confessed to killing Kodandarama. He then led the investigators to the location where he had burnt Kodandarama’s body.
