A residential dwelling is incomplete without interior decoration, just like a cake without icing. Wardrobes, wall hangings, murals and lighting are what makes a concrete structure livable - a quintessential home.

When it comes to furniture like sofa sets or wardrobes, without batting an eyelid, everyone vouches for things made of wood. Though teakwood and rosewood are in much demand, they are not always affordable. Hence, people opt for lookalikes without compromising on quality; they choose rubberwood and other varieties of wood. The ready-to-fit fixtures are more the order of the day as they give us ample choice in terms of design, that too, at competitive rates.

The use of PVC for wardrobes or for kitchen interiors is also a good option as they need little maintenance and are available in attractive colours and designs. They are sturdy and long lasting too, making them good competitors to wooden furniture.

In the last few years, however, another option, in terms of quality material, is fast kicking into the market - stainless steel fixtures. The stainless steel variety of fixtures is attracting the imagination of many customers. It can be well fitted into even kitchen décor. Anodised metal furniture is also in vogue in many drawing rooms.

The kitchen, as everybody knows, is the ‘the heart of the house’. In the earlier days, this part of the house used to be less decorated. Concrete shelves used to be a common feature about a few decades ago and they were subsequently replaced by granite slabs.
With the onset of many types of equipment and appliances, which are of every day use in the kitchen now, the concept of recreating the kitchen became a necessity. The modern kitchen, that showcases the home maker, was born. Now, no kitchen is complete without suitable cabinets to store utensils and grocery. The cabinets give ample space for many modern gadgets like the microwave oven, mixer-grinder, coffee maker, water purifier and also the dish washer which make up a kitchen today. These complete the modern kitchen. The activity of cooking is now much more interesting.

The latest trend in kitchen décor is the use of stainless steel. Storage cupboards and hangars for kitchen utilities look plush in stainless steel. Steel is preferred as it offers flexibility in design, easy maintenance and more importantly due to its non-corrosive nature. It has an added advantage of being unbreakable and has good durability. In terms of cost, it is comparable with other materials.

Indian kitchens are more prone to getting wet when compared to their western counterparts and stainless steel fixtures are well-suited to the Indian kitchen.
