The convoy of Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas M Veerappa Moily met with a minor accident near Nelamangala on National Highway-4 on Saturday noon. No one was injured in the accident.

The accident occurred when the minister was returning to City from Tumkur. The driver of a sports utility vehicle proceeding in front of the convoy applied brakes suddenly to avoid hitting a cow. The pilot vehicle of minister’s motorcade rammed the SUV from behind and three cars behind it rammed each other, Venkatesh, the sub-inspector in the escort team of the minister told Deccan Herald.

“It was a very minor accident. No one sustained injuries nor was there any minor damage to the vehicles. The minister continued his journey to Bangalore and reached the City,” Venkatesh said.

The SUV driver - Selvam, a businessman from Sira - was taken to the police station. Nelamangala police have registered a case against him for rash driving.
