From small screen to big one

Kavita Kaushik, who shot to popularity with her fiery portrayal of Chandramukhi Chautala in the serial ‘FIR’, is now all set to make her debut in Bollywood with the film ‘Democracy Private Limited’.

“I have been paired opposite Deepak Dobriyal in the film as his fiery housewife, a Sardarni who speaks chaste Punjabi and even dances to a Punjabi number. If you compare my role with that of Chandramukhi, I am very girly in the film, which is being directed by Anirudh Chautala, the grandson of former prime minister Devilal Chautala, who is also making his debut as a director with the film. Though I was getting a lot of offers to act in films, I opted for this film since I was happy with the role. In any case, I am not at all hungry for films and to me ‘FIR’ is bigger than even films because it has been running for the last eight years,” she says.
