Govt told to end illegal display of leaders' cutouts

Last Updated 18 July 2013, 19:41 IST

Members across all political parties demanded in the Assembly on Thursday that the State government should end unauthorised display of flexes and cutouts in public places, especially in major cities and towns.

Congress leader K R Ramesh Kumar, who raised the issue, said unauthorised flexes and cutouts had become an eyesore in public places. The officials had turned a blind eye towards them, though rules were being violated blatantly.

Leader of the Opposition H D Kumaraswamy said anti-social elements were misusing photographs of prominent leaders, without obtaining their permission.

Former chief minister Jagadish Shettar urged the government to take strict action to stop this public nuisance.
