Students' future still uncertain as SJCE row continues

Last Updated 18 July 2013, 21:04 IST

The future of students who have secured seats at Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), Mysore, under Computer Science and Electronics and Communication Engineering, still hangs in balance, as the college and the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) have been issuing contradictory statements.

B G Sangameshwar, principal of SJCE, told Deccan Herald that there would be no problem for students and those who were refused admissions earlier would get them soon.

He said, there was no fault on their side as they had furnished all necessary records and produced them before the court. “There will be a positive solution for students,” he said. Sangameshwar refused to comment on the need for completing admissions by
July 19.

A couple of parents approached Rajneesh Goel, principal secretary, Higher Education department on Thursday and were told to get admissions on July 19.

A parent, who wished to remain anonymous, said, along with students, they would resort to a hunger strike if the issue was not resolved at the earliest. “Students are mentally tortured and their future is in a soup, in the fight between KEA and the college. The officer has told us to go to the college on July 19 and get admissions,” the parent said.

They cannot get seats in other top colleges now, as all seats would have been filled, he added.
