Jowar along with rice likely

The State government will explore the possibility of supplying jowar along with rice under the public distribution system but a final decision will depend on supplies.

Replying to a question during zero hour by Appaji Nadagouda (Cong) in the Legislative Assembly, Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies Dinesh Gundu Rao said the main intention of the government was to provide nutritious foodgrain to the poor. “We will have to study whether sufficient jowar is available in the market to meet our requirement before taking a final decision,” he said.
