Six Maoists are feared killed in a major gun battle between the police and the left wing ultras in Odisha’s tribal dominated Rayagara district early on Friday morning.

While the police have recovered the bodies of three Maoists, search is on to find the other three bodies.

According to police sources, the gun battle took place during a combing operation launched by the elite SOG (special operation group) jawans of the state police inside the Kurumadunage forests. Apart from the three bodies, the police also recovered from the gun battle site, a few hand granades as well as Maoists posters and other articles. The last report has that combing operations are still underway.
