Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday said he will not indulge in illegal denotification as done by the previous government.

He was replying to JD(S) member M C Nanaiah, who sought to know — in the Council —
whether Siddaramaiah, like his predecessors will indulge in denotification of land.
During the question hour, M D Lakshminarayana (Ind) questioned the delay in forming the Kempe Gowda Layout by the BDA in the Legislative Council.

Answering him, chief minister said he will not indulge in illegal denotification and will abide by the Supreme Court guidelines in formation of the new layouts. Work on the Kempe Gowda Layout will begin by October this year. Land acquisition process for the formation of the layout is still on, as only 1,679.03 acre has been acquired so far, he said.

Informing that the preliminary notification was issued to acquire 4,800 acre of land spread across 12 villages, he said, “The final notification was issued to acquire 4,043 acre of land.”

Stating that the actual acquisition, so far was, 1,679.03 acre, Siddaramaiah informed that the re-tendering process will begin shortly. “Previous tender issued by the then government has been cancelled as the tender was called to develop 4,043 acre of land, while the land acquired is very less,” he said.

Siddaramaiah further said that he will consider a suggestion made by BJP member Doddarange Gowda to set up a separate infrastructure development authority to oversee and implement the infrastructure projects. The chief minister agreed with the member that unscientific growth of the City should be checked and appropriate infrastructure facilities be provided to the citizens.

Arkavathy Layout

On Gowda’s question over the delay in allotment of sites in Arkavathy Layout, Siddaramaiah said that legal hurdle is causing delay in site allotment. As many as 8,513 sites will be allotted to the applicants and later another 2,000 sites will be distributed for fresh applicants.

BMRCL

In his reply to JD(S) member Puttanna, Siddaramaiah said the Bangalore Metro Railway Corporation Limited (BMRCL) and Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will be instructed to develop proper roads along Namma Metro construction stretch.

Puttanna told the Council that vehicle users are finding it difficult to travel on such roads. At this, the chief minister said asphaltation work is on at a few places. Siddaramaiah also said that the Phase I of Namma Metro will be ready for commercial operations by March 2015.
