Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said that India had a “lot of anger”, which needed to be “cooled” to ensure development of the country.

Speaking at a function in his Lok Sabha constituency of Amethi after inaugurating a CRPF recruitment centre, Rahul said the country needed “inclusive politics” and added that the country was in fact a “thought” made by the youths.

The Congress leader lauded the contribution of the CRPF jawans in bringing peace to Punjab and cited the example of a man, who he said, had been a separatist and demanded Khalistan but had later become a legislator once peace returned there.

“You (CRPF jawans) have given your blood to safeguard democracy in Punjab and gave its youths hope. Unfortunately we forget you after the peace returns,” Rahul said. He also referred to the sacrifices made by the CRPF jawans in operations against the Maoists in Jharkhand, Chattisgarh and against the militants in Jammu and Kashmir. The congress leader stressed the need for providing better housing facilities to the families of the jawans.
Earlier, Rahul inaugurated the CRPF recruitment centre at Amethi, which was the first in the state and hoped that it would bring employment to the people of the region. “I am told that 17 per cent of CRPF jawans come from UP,” he said.

Rahul, who arrived on a on a three-day visit to the constituency on Tuesday, left for Delhi later in the day.

During the visit Rahul, who was also accompanied by his sister Priyanka on the first two days, met party leaders and a cross-section of the electorate.
