The State Government on Tuesday decided to step up vigil in Bangalore and all districts bordering Kerala and Tamil Nadu to check any possible infiltration of LTTE militants into the State.
Chief Minister Yeddyurappa, who reviewed the law and order situation with Home Minister V S Acharya and top officials, directed the Forest departments to be on high alert on the forest range bordering Kerala in view of the intelligence reports that some LTTE men are trying to enter that State through the sea route. Speaking to reporters, Acharya said the Government would consider providing shelter or treatment to Tamil civilians or LTTE sympathisers who may come from the war zone (in Sri Lanka) to Karnataka, on humanitarian grounds after informing the Centre. But a vigil would be maintained on their activities, he added.
The Home Minister said the Government does not foresee any law and order problem in the State in view of the Sri Lankan army defeating the LTTE.
