ABVP members staged a protest opposing the arrest of Government First Grade College Student Ranjith, in Uppinangady on Monday.

They alleged that there was a conspiracy behind  filing a case of outraging the modesty of girl against Ranjith.

Addressing protesters, ABVP State Secretary Ramesh said that the complaint given by Ranjith’s classmate Shahida was far from truth and it was just a part of the conspiracy. The police have booked case against the boy without an inquiry. This is nothing but an injustice met against students. The police should withdraw the case, he demanded.

“The anti-national organisations are trying to divide students in colleges in Uppinangady, Vittal, Konalu. The principals are supporting such activities. Therefore, such incidents constantly recurring. The government should take steps to prevent such incidents,” he said.

Over 300 students from Uppinangady college boycotted classes and were part of the protest. Students from other colleges too participated in the protest.
